Resolution

I have always been a person in need of resolution.  Of course, in life there are many times when resolution is not feasible.  During those times, instead of dwelling on my 'need' for resolution, I accentuate in my mind's eye what I have learned from the situation.  I am a firm believer that ultimately we will be led in the way we should go regardless of our level of resistance.  Therefore, being aware of what we learned can make a profound difference and allows us the peace of mind to let things go and get into the flow of life once again.

A Matter of Spirit

Someone very close to me said something today that resonated throughout my entire spirit.  We were in a discussion about our passions.  His is music.  Sometimes when he speaks about it or is simply listening to it, I can almost see a glow surrounding him, lighting the path for him to follow his passions.  For him, his commitment is spiritual in nature, much deeper than an instrumentalist practicing hours a day to play in a concert or a pianist that knows all of the chord progressions perfectly and precisely.  When he plays or even thinks about his passion, his spirit listens and responds with love, understanding, patience, appreciation.  Spiritual growth takes place rather than an increase in musicality or precision although the growth results in both.  As he spoke simple words about how things were going at school or the new trombone that would be delivered, it was clear that his passion for music ran deep throughout his being.  It was clear that he was touched by something greater than what we can see or touch.  It was clear that this talent, this deep love and understanding of himself and his passion was a gift from a higher power which would lead him to not just play and learn but to play and learn from within, deep within where the spirit of his passions lie.

In that deep place inside each of us is where true passion blooms and the only place that it can grow and blossom into what it will become, what we will become.  As I take a look into my own spirit to see what lies there, I can only hope that that glow I see in him will embrace me and lead me down my own path to a passionate existence.
